of music and the sound

tonight at a party, a good friend of mine spoke of the sing-alongs that happen at the castro theater, and how she didn't realize until participating in The Sound of Music sing-along that perhaps she was fulfilling a lifelong dream.

after returning home from her party, i had the opportunity to experience the same epiphany. The Sound of Music was on tv, and it captured me completely. it wasn't just the familiar story or songs, it was the history, the sentimental value, the love... of the moment. i love this movie. i love this story, and i love remembering watching it with my family. so i sat, teary and happy and sad and singing along in my living room, loving it. and remembering.
