this november is like none i've experienced. the windows are open, people are coatless, and the ice skaters have emerged.
that's right: ice skaters. outside. in t-shirts.
while wandering the farmer's market and absorbing the sunshine this afternoon, i spied a big sign advertising an outdoor ice rink. i was in disbelief. and curious.
i've often said that i miss skating outdoors in minnesota, and i've held on to my blades for the past decade, hoping i'll have an opportunity again. and while this west coast rink isn't standard-sized and it's a little odd hearing the hum of whatever it is keeping the ice solid, a smile appeared when i noticed the "snow" outside the rink and imagined sliding around under palm trees.
