a civilized day

today i spent 2 hours in a dimly lit room, with a stranger.

a few years back, my buddy jay extolled virtues on a local korean spa, encouraging me to take advantage of their communal baths. while i didn't take a dip with the rest of the folks, i did enjoy an 80-minute Abhyanga massage.

lucky for me, i work with a great group who took note when i admitted i'd never been to a spa. they gave me a gift certificate for a wedding present, and i cashed it in as a post-b-day relax-a-ganza. the candle lit private bath--complete with tea and sliced apples and oranges--was arguably the most civilized accoutrement, and worth doing again. here is where i luxuriated.

i just turned a year older, and to mark the occasion mom made me this pendant:



she made everything: the fused glass and the silver encasement. (as you can see, mom is a talented jeweler--has been for over 30 years!) thanks, mom. i love it so much.
